Compute

This service allows users to access NeCTAR cloud compute infrastructure to facilitate computational research, data processing, modelling, analysis and collaborations.

This service is provided as an “infrastructure as a service (IaaS)" and is aimed at more technical users with skills in managing servers.

Cloud compute allows access to:

  1. Virtual CPUs (vCPUs): Users of NeCTAR can create virtual machines of a range of different sizes, between 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 virtual CPUs.  General purpose vCPUs are currently available.
Custom flavours (e.g. 32 core flavours, flavours with large boot disks, etc) are also possible (with approval).
  2. Volume Storage: NeCTAR hosted services can access block storage in the order of Gigabytes to a Terrabyte.
  3. Operating Systems:
    • Linux, including: Centos, Ubuntu, Fedora & Scientific Linux
